That having been said, I'll accept to agree with some of the reviews here: I too have found the book rather basic and aimed at the very unexperienced reader wanting an intro to the subject. The two aspects I personally similar the to the lowest degree are:

1) I think a book like this i would do good from a much more than in depth and cross- disciplinary review of seminal studies in psychology and behavioural scientific discipline (and more) - although I appreciate that that would narrow the target audience significantly.

2) The sample dialogues used throughout the books seemed too imitation to me, presenting an overly negative or postive scenario each time, both of which are hard to imagine in reality - although I capeesh that the writer's aim here might exist exactly to give the reader benchmarks at one or the other extreme.

The coffee breaks at the cease of each affiliate were good though: having to fill in the blanks definitely helped me memorise some of the cardinal points more hands than usual.

I found this book to exist slightly dry in the beginning, and therefore slogged through the beginning couple of chapters. It picked upwardly nicely soon after, though. And when I began to put what I was learning into practise...WHOA. These things actually work. I didn't even use all of them or put in an insane amount of effort. I simply fabricated a conscious decision to make five fiddling changes to the conversations I was having with others (ex. relaxing my posture, using their name, eye contact, pleasant tone of vocalization I found this book to be slightly dry in the beginning, and therefore slogged through the first couple of capacity. I bought this book in London in a train station shop in 2011. I read the 2nd Edition published in 2007. The book has 261 pages and I needed 3 days to read it. I did not enjoy at all and was forcing myself, every bit I wanted to read all of my unread books sitting on my bookshelf for ages, and those ones is i of them.

There are so many clear and straightforward techniques today on line; or in projection direction PMI Guideline. The Case-Study scenarios used in this book in some chapters, are and so trivial, and not justified afterward.

The exercises at the end of each chapter : the author should put a number side by side to each question and and then propose the answer word, use MCQ, instead of leaving the blank and use the commencement alphabetic character of the word. It is not used anymore!

I give 2 stars out of 5, even though I exercise not find information technology is worth more than. Avoid reading this volume!

I bought this while I was at an airport in Scotland. I actually liked how it was laid out, and also how the diagrams related to the text on the page. The information was to the point and all very informative.

I would recommend this book for someone who is looking for a broad overview of the basic psychology behind standard interpersonal relationships.

I really liked this book considering it really talks about communication skills on several levels and social psychology. At that place are a lot of applied tips in this volume and things that I have definitely integrated into my dealings with people on a daily basis.
